Rashmika Mandanna’s 'The Girlfriend' Locks November 7 Release, Fans Go Wild Over Teaser

Rashmika Mandanna’s romantic drama The Girlfriend to release in theatres on November 7.

Rashmika Mandanna, one of South India's most versatile and highest-paid actresses, is gearing up to captivate audiences with her lead role in the upcoming romantic drama *The Girlfriend*, slated for a grand theatrical release on November 7, 2025. Directed and written by Rahul Ravindran, known for his heartfelt narratives in films like *Chi La Sow* (2015) and *Manmadhudu 2* (2019), the movie is presented by veteran producer Allu Aravind under Geetha Arts, with production handled by Mass Movie Makers and Dheeraj Mogilineni Entertainment.

The film will hit screens in five languages—Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam—aiming to reach a pan-Indian audience. Mandanna stars opposite rising star Dheekshith Shetty, with a strong supporting cast including Koushik Mahata, Rohini, Rao Ramesh, and Mahaboob Basha, promising a blend of emotional depth and visual splendor.

The announcement, shared by Mandanna on Instagram on October 4, 2025, has sent fans into a frenzy, with the teaser trailer garnering millions of views within hours. In her caption, the 29-year-old actress wrote, “I know you guys have been waiting on this one, and here it isss. #TheGirlfriend in theatres from November 7th, 2025. In Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. #TheGirlfriendOnNov7th #WhoIsYourType.”

The teaser, featuring Mandanna in an ethereal underwater sequence set to a haunting score by composer Hesham Abdul Wahab, hints at a "one-of-a-kind love story" that explores unconventional romance, with cinematography by Krishnan Vasant capturing stunning visuals. Touted as a female-led narrative, the film marks Ravindran's return to directing after a hiatus, focusing on themes of vulnerability and connection that align with Mandanna's strengths in portraying relatable, empowered women.

Mandanna's excitement is palpable, especially as *The Girlfriend* comes amid a stellar lineup of projects that showcase her expanding footprint in both South and Hindi cinema. Fresh off the blockbuster success of *Pushpa 2: The Rule* (2024), which grossed over ₹1,800 crore worldwide and solidified her as a pan-India star, and her critically acclaimed role as Maharani Yesubai in *Chhaava* (2025), she continues to diversify her portfolio. The film's multilingual release strategy mirrors her career trajectory, from Kannada breakout *Kirik Party* (2016) to Telugu hits like *Geetha Govindam* (2018) and Hindi ventures such as *Animal* (2023), where she earned praise despite the film's controversies.

Adding to her busy slate is the horror-comedy *Thamma*, part of the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar (*Munjya*). Set for a Diwali 2025 release on October 21, it pairs Mandanna with Ayushmann Khurrana, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Paresh Rawal in a vampire-themed romantic tale infused with supernatural elements and humor. Filming, which faced a brief delay due to Mandanna's leg injury in January 2025, wrapped in May, with special songs featuring Malaika Arora and Nora Fatehi shot in July. The trailer's launch at Mumbai's Bandra Fort in September has built massive buzz, positioning *Thamma* as a festive crowd-pleaser.

Meanwhile, Mandanna is currently shooting for *Cocktail 2*, the sequel to the 2012 cult rom-com, directed by Homi Adajania and written by Luv Ranjan under Maddock Films. Reprising the ensemble vibe, she joins Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, with production kicking off in August 2025 across India and Europe, including scenic shoots in Sicily. Slated for a 2026 release, the film promises a modern twist on love triangles, blending humor, emotion, and glamour.

Amid rumors of her engagement to Vijay Deverakonda in October 2025, Mandanna's professional momentum remains unstoppable, with Forbes India listing her in the 2024 "30 Under 30" for her influence. As *The Girlfriend* approaches, fans are eager for what could be another career-defining role from the "National Crush."
