Rashmika Mandanna Condemns AI-Morphed Vulgar Content, Urges Accountability And Legal Action
Rashmika urges strict punishment for AI-generated vulgar content targeting women, calling it moral decline.
Actor Rashmika Mandanna on Wednesday issued a powerful statement against the alarming rise of AI-generated deepfake pornography and vulgar content targeting women, calling it a “deep moral decline” and demanding “strict & unforgiving punishment” for perpetrators. The Animal and Pushpa star, who herself became a victim of a viral deepfake video in 2023 that morphed her face onto explicit footage, used her X account to highlight how easily fabricated visuals are now being passed off as real on the internet.
“When truth can be manufactured, discernment becomes our greatest defence,” she wrote, stressing that while artificial intelligence is a powerful tool for progress, its deliberate misuse to humiliate and objectify women reveals a disturbing ethical void. Rashmika urged society to “choose responsibility over recklessness” and called for collective action to ensure technology is used to build a “more dignified and progressive” world instead of enabling harm.
Her post comes amid a growing wave of similar incidents involving celebrities such as Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Kajol, where morphed explicit images and videos have spread rapidly across social media platforms. Despite the IT Ministry’s repeated advisories and proposed amendments to the IT Act to criminalise deepfake creation and distribution, enforcement remains patchy, allowing such content to proliferate with near-impunity.

Rashmika’s outspoken stance has been widely applauded by fans and fellow actors, with many describing it as a much-needed wake-up call for stricter legislation and platform accountability. “If people cannot act like humans, then strict punishment must be served,” she concluded, echoing demands from women’s rights groups for exemplary penalties, including imprisonment and heavy fines.
On the professional front, the actress is currently filming Cocktail 2, the sequel to the 2012 romantic drama, directed by Homi Adajania. The theatrical release of Cocktail 2 is anticipated for the second half of 2026.
