Rashmika Mandanna Admits Sikandar Turned Out Very Different From the Script She Signed
Rashmika Mandanna says the final version of Sikandar differed significantly from the script she originally heard.
Rashmika Mandanna has shared insights into her experience working on AR Murugadoss’s action thriller Sikandar, which starred Salman Khan and released last year to mixed reviews. Despite the film launching during Salman’s traditional Eid window, it failed to meet expectations at the box office, leaving audiences and critics underwhelmed. Rashmika reflected on how the movie ultimately evolved in ways she hadn’t anticipated.
Speaking to Telugu journalist Prema, Rashmika revealed that the script she first heard was very different from the final product. “Sikandar, I remember talking to Murugadoss sir, of course later what happened was very different. But when I heard the script, it was quite different,” she said, highlighting how projects often change during production.
Rashmika explained that such transformations are a normal part of filmmaking, especially in large-scale commercial cinema. Factors like performances, editing decisions, and release timing can significantly alter the story. “Generally, that happens with films. When you listen to something, it is one story that you have listened to, but over the making of the film, things change,” she noted.

In Sikandar, Rashmika plays Salman Khan’s wife, a role that ends tragically in the first half. The film then focuses on Salman's character seeking revenge against the chief antagonist, played by Sathyaraj. This narrative structure was markedly different from what Rashmika had initially been told during early discussions.
At the box office, Sikandar earned approximately ₹110.1 crore net in India and ₹184.6 crore worldwide, figures considered modest against its estimated ₹200 crore production budget. The mismatch between expectations and collections contributed to its perception as a commercial failure, despite the star-studded cast and high-profile release.
