Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Dominates 2025 Box Office With Record ₹872 Crore Gross

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar tops the 2025 worldwide box office, surpassing Kantara and Chhaava with massive global collections.

Ranveer Singh's spy thriller Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has claimed the top spot as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 worldwide. Released on December 5, the film has amassed an impressive ₹872.25 crore in global collections within just over two weeks. Its success is driven by robust overseas performance, strong repeat viewership, and overwhelmingly positive word-of-mouth, allowing it to outperform both mass and multiplex audiences across India.

Dhurandhar has now surpassed two major contenders: Rishab Shetty's Kantara: A Legend—Chapter 1, which stands at ₹852 crore worldwide, and Vicky Kaushal's historical drama Chhaava, which concluded its run with ₹807.91 crore. The spy thriller's rapid climb reflects its broad appeal, combining high-octane action, strong performances—particularly from Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna—and a gripping narrative that resonated with audiences both domestically and internationally. The film continues to show exceptional hold, suggesting further growth in the coming weeks.

Kantara: A Legend—Chapter 1 set a new benchmark for the Kannada film industry as a prequel exploring the mythological origins of the Bhuta Kola ritual and ancestral conflicts. Chhaava, released on February 14, earned widespread praise for Vicky Kaushal's portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj and Akshaye Khanna's role as Aurangzeb, making it one of the year's standout historical epics. Both films have contributed significantly to the diverse success stories of 2025, showcasing regional and pan-Indian appeal.

Rounding out the top ten are Saiyaara (₹570.33 crore), a surprise romantic hit starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda; Rajinikanth's Coolie (₹518 crore); the Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR-starrer War 2 (₹364.35 crore); the animated sleeper hit Mahavatar Narsimha (₹326.82 crore); the Malayalam success Lokah Chapter One: Chandra (₹303.67 crore); Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG (₹293.65 crore); and Housefull 5 (₹288.67 crore). These films span genres, languages, and budgets, highlighting the vibrant and commercially robust state of Indian cinema this year.

With Dhurandhar leading the pack, 2025 has proven to be a landmark year for Indian films globally. The combination of strong storytelling, star power, and effective marketing has driven unprecedented collections, setting new records and reinforcing India's growing influence on the international box office. As the year nears its end, Dhurandhar's dominance underscores the potential for original content to achieve massive success in a competitive landscape.
