Ranveer Singh Receives Crores Extortion Demand Through WhatsApp Voice Note
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh receives extortion threat, cops beef up security at his home.
Bollywood Actor Ranveer Singh has become the latest target of criminal threats after receiving a WhatsApp voice note demanding crores of rupees in ransom, police confirmed. The warning comes shortly after a firing incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai, heightening security concerns for the city’s film fraternity.
Mumbai Police have increased security outside the 40-year-old actor’s residence and are actively tracing the sender of the threatening message. Ranveer, known for his blockbuster film Dhurandhar, has reportedly been advised to exercise caution while authorities investigate the case.
The threat follows the February 1 firing at Rohit Shetty’s nine-storey building in Juhu. Police said at least five rounds were fired on the first floor, one of which shattered a gym window. Five suspects have already been arrested, while Shubham Lonkar, allegedly an absconding member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, is suspected of orchestrating the attack.

Lonkar is also wanted in high-profile cases, including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique and a shooting outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has previously claimed responsibility for attacks on public figures, including threats to Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada and Salman Khan.
Authorities are investigating any potential links between the extortion attempt against Ranveer Singh and previous criminal activities of the gang. Police sources confirmed that the actor’s security will remain heightened until the threat is fully neutralized.
Cine-industry members have expressed concern over escalating threats to public figures in Mumbai, urging authorities to ensure stronger protective measures. Officials continue to track Lonkar and other gang members while warning celebrities to remain vigilant.
