Ranbir Kapoor Tells Raha Ramayana Stories After Shoot; Recalls Her Asking if He Met Hanuman
Ranbir shares how daughter Raha's curiosity deepened his Ramayana connection personally.
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor, who is essaying the role of Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious Ramayana film, revealed that his three-year-old daughter, Raha, is deeply fascinated by the epic. Speaking to the media after the film’s teaser screening in Los Angeles, Ranbir shared how telling Ramayana stories to his daughter has been a heartwarming experience. He recalled her adorable questions after his shoots, including whether he had “shot with Lord Hanuman today” or met Sita on set.
Ranbir said that becoming a father added a unique dimension to his role. “I was extremely blessed to have this opportunity that coincided with me becoming a father. On one side, I am going to work and play Lord Rama, but I am also going home and telling my daughter, Raha, stories about Ramayana,” he said. The actor described Raha’s curiosity as a reflection of how deeply Indian culture is embedded in daily life, adding that this universal appeal is something he hopes to share with audiences worldwide.
The actor also revealed that he initially hesitated to accept the role of Lord Rama, feeling unprepared to take on such an iconic character. However, the birth of his daughter motivated him to embrace the opportunity. Ranbir further confirmed that he will play a double role in the film, portraying both Lord Rama and Lord Parshuram, adding a new layer of intrigue to the narrative.

Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana is being made on a staggering budget of ₹4,000 crore, making it the most expensive Indian film ever. The two-part epic features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Ramayana Part One is scheduled for release in October 2026, with the second installment arriving in 2027.
The teaser of the film was launched across 14 Indian cities, including Mumbai, and offered glimpses of the star-studded ensemble. Viewers were introduced to Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, with brief appearances by Lakshman, Sita, and Yash’s Ravana, who makes a dramatic entry stepping out of the Pushpak Vimana. The teaser has already generated significant excitement for the film ahead of its theatrical release.
Ranbir emphasized that Ramayana is a story with deep cultural resonance, and he hopes the film will appeal to both Indian audiences and international viewers. “The culture is so seeped into our subconscious that it comes very naturally — the love and interest come very naturally to us. We want that to appeal to a larger audience and a global audience, and really share something that we have believed in for centuries,” he said. With its scale, visual effects, and ensemble cast, the film is poised to become a landmark in Indian cinema.
