Rakesh Roshan’s Health Scare: Urges Check-Ups for Over-45s
Filmmaker recovers after critical carotid artery procedure
Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, 75, revealed a serious health scare on Instagram, urging those over 45 to prioritize heart and brain check-ups. During a routine full-body examination, a heart CT and carotid artery sonography uncovered that both his carotid arteries, vital for brain blood flow, were over 75% blocked despite showing no symptoms.
Roshan, known for blockbusters like Karan Arjun and the Krrish franchise, underwent a neck angioplasty at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital on July 16 to clear the blockages, a procedure critical to preventing strokes. His daughter, Sunaina Roshan, confirmed his full recovery, stating, “He’s perfectly fine now, resting,” with the filmmaker moved from ICU to a general ward.
“I immediately admitted myself and got the preventative procedures done,” Roshan shared, emphasizing the importance of early detection. “A heart CT and carotid brain artery sonography, often ignored, is a must for everyone above 45-50. Prevention is better than cure.”
