Rahul Vaidya Spends ₹4.2 Lakh Amid IndiGo Flight Chaos, Calls It “Worst Day to Fly”
Rahul Vaidya spends ₹4.2 lakh on IndiGo tickets amid nationwide flight cancellations, sharing ordeal on Instagram
Singer Rahul Vaidya was forced to spend a staggering Rs 4.2 lakh on last-minute flight tickets from Goa to Mumbai on Thursday after his original IndiGo flight was cancelled amid the airline’s widespread operational crisis. The singer, who was scheduled to perform in Kolkata the same evening, shared his ordeal on Instagram Stories, calling it “one of the worst days to fly.”
IndiGo cancelled over 100 flights nationwide on December 4, 2025, citing crew shortages, air traffic control glitches, and technical issues, leaving thousands of passengers stranded across major airports. With no immediate alternative on IndiGo or other carriers, Vaidya and his team had to book expensive same-day tickets on available flights to reach Mumbai and catch a connecting flight to Kolkata.
In a series of posts, the singer shared a tired selfie along with pictures of multiple boarding passes totalling Rs 4.2 lakh for the short domestic hop from Goa to Mumbai. “We have a show in Kolkata tonight… and still don’t know how we are going to reach there!” he wrote, highlighting the panic caused by the sudden disruption.

The incident has sparked fresh outrage among passengers already frustrated with IndiGo’s handling of the crisis, with many taking to social media to share similar stories of exorbitant rebooking costs and missed commitments. Several travellers reported paying three to five times the usual fare for alternate flights.
As the airline faces mounting criticism and regulatory scrutiny, high-profile cases like Vaidya’s have amplified public anger over poor contingency planning during peak travel season. Vaidya eventually reached Kolkata for his scheduled performance, but his experience underscores the severe inconvenience and financial burden faced by passengers caught in IndiGo’s operational meltdown.
