Pranay Vanga Claims Deepika Padukone Sought Profit Share in 'Spirit'
Pranay Vanga alleges Deepika sought profit share amid Spirit exit row.
The controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone’s exit from Spirit has intensified after Pranay Reddy Vanga, brother of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, made fresh claims about the negotiations. He alleged that the actress sought a 10 per cent share of the film’s profits and claimed that some details about the project were leaked during discussions. Spirit, starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, is scheduled to release in March 2027.
Pranay discussed Deepika’s departure from the project during an interview with NTV. He said remuneration and working hours were among the factors considered during negotiations, while suggesting that there were additional reasons behind the decision. According to him, Sandeep ultimately decided to proceed without Deepika after discussions with the actress that had reportedly continued for around 18 months.
The latest comments add another dimension to the disagreement that emerged after Deepika was reportedly no longer part of Spirit. Her reported demand for an eight-hour working day had previously become a major talking point. Pranay indicated that financial terms were also significant, claiming that Deepika had sought a 10 per cent profit-sharing arrangement for the film.

Pranay further alleged that information related to the project was shared during the negotiations. He claimed that details about the film reached outside parties, adding to the reasons behind the decision to end discussions with Deepika. These allegations were made by Pranay in the interview and have not been independently established.
The development comes as Spirit continues its journey toward production and release. The film is being directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and features Prabhas in the lead role, with Triptii Dimri also part of the cast. Deepika’s reported exit had earlier generated considerable discussion because of the film’s high-profile cast and the director’s previous work.
Neither the profit-sharing allegation nor the claim about leaked film details establishes wrongdoing by Deepika on its own. The latest remarks represent Pranay Reddy Vanga’s account of the negotiations, while the circumstances surrounding the actor’s exit continue to attract attention. With Spirit currently slated for a March 2027 release, further details about the project and its casting are expected to remain closely watched.
