Prakash Padukone Talks About Deepika And Ranveer Singh’s Hands-On Parenting Style
Prakash Padukone discusses Deepika and Ranveer’s parenting style.
Former Indian badminton player Prakash Padukone has opened up about his experience as a grandfather and shared insights into the parenting style of his daughter Deepika Padukone and son-in-law Ranveer Singh. In a recent interview, he spoke warmly about his granddaughter Dua Padukone Singh, describing her as a friendly and outgoing child who is growing up in a closely supportive family environment.
Prakash said that Deepika and Ranveer are both actively involved in parenting their daughter, calling them “hands-on parents.” He noted that while Deepika takes on a larger share of responsibilities, Ranveer contributes significantly whenever his professional commitments allow. He also added that both sides of the family remain closely involved in supporting the child’s upbringing.
Reflecting on his own experience as a grandparent, Prakash admitted that he had previously not understood why grandparents tend to be deeply affectionate and emotionally attached to their grandchildren. However, he said that after the birth of Dua, he now fully understands those feelings, describing grandfatherhood as a deeply fulfilling experience that has changed his perspective on family life.

He also shared that whenever Dua visits Bengaluru, he and his wife, Ujjala Padukone, make an effort to expose her to everyday local experiences. This includes simple outings such as metro rides, auto-rickshaw journeys, and visits to neighbourhood parks. According to him, these experiences are intended to help her remain grounded despite growing up in a highly public environment.
Prakash further described Dua as an active and social child who enjoys outdoor activities, including playing padel near their residence. He added that she is particularly fascinated by trains and enjoys observing them near their home. He also noted that she is very friendly and comfortable interacting with people, often greeting those she meets, and has been accustomed to travelling from a young age, which he believes has contributed to her adaptable nature.
Deepika and Ranveer, who married in 2018 in Italy in ceremonies reflecting both Konkani and Sindhi traditions, welcomed their daughter Dua in September 2024. The couple kept her away from the public eye for several months before introducing her to fans during Diwali 2025, sharing glimpses of their family life on social media.
On the professional front, Deepika continues to work on major film projects, including King alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Raaka, directed by Atlee and starring Allu Arjun. Ranveer Singh, meanwhile, was last seen in Dhurandhar: The Revenge and has recently been in discussions in the media regarding his upcoming projects, including Don 3.
