Politicians Mourn the Death of Veteran Filmmaker Manoj Kumar

The passing of veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar has left a profound impact on the Indian film industry and political leaders alike. The legendary actor, known as 'Bharat Kumar' for his series of patriotic films, died at the age of 87 at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Mumbai early Friday due to age-related issues.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over Kumar’s demise, calling it an "irreparable loss to the art and film world." In a heartfelt message posted on X, Adityanath said, "The demise of great actor, renowned film director, 'Padma Shri' Shri Manoj Kumar ji is extremely sad... I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant salvation to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family and his fans to bear this immense loss."

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also paid tribute, highlighting Kumar's role in instilling patriotism through his films. "I pay my tributes to the senior artist 'Bharat Kumar' who aroused and instilled the sentiment of patriotism and awareness about Indian social life among citizens," Fadnavis said. He recalled Kumar's portrayal of Bhagat Singh in ‘Shaheed’ and praised his impactful films like ‘Upkar’, ‘Purab Aur Paschim’, ‘Kranti’, and ‘Roti Kapda Aur Makaan’.

NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar termed Kumar's demise as heartbreaking. Reflecting on his legacy, Pawar said, "The lines in his song 'Bharat Ka Rahnewala Hoon, Bharat Ki Baat Sunata Hoon' that introduce the great tradition of Indian culture still resonate in the mind."

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar remarked that Kumar's death marks the end of a great era in Indian cinema. He acknowledged the actor's immense contribution to Indian cinema, emphasizing that his portrayal of patriotism would always remain in the audience's hearts.
