No Subordinate Roles: Aadhav Arjuna Reveals TVK Rejected Massive Pre-Poll Offer

TVK spurns unidentified party's alliance bid featuring 90 seats, Vijay as CM.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay, has firmly rejected a lucrative pre-election offer from an unidentified party proposing 90 assembly seats and the Chief Minister's post for 2.5 years ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu polls. TVK General Secretary Aadhav Arjuna revealed that Vijay turned down the proposal, prioritizing the party's independent strength to form a government rooted in secularism and social justice.

The offer, which also hinted at up to 50% of the 234 constituencies in some accounts, came amid swirling rumors of NDA overtures, including a Deputy CM position, but TVK insists Vijay entered politics solely to become Chief Minister, not a subordinate role.

This rejection underscores TVK's strategy to contest all 234 seats solo, a bold stance echoing Vijay's earlier declarations against "selfish alliances" with ideologically opposed groups like BJP-aligned parties. Party coordinators like K.A. Sengottaiyan have ruled out talks with AIADMK or NDA, dismissing speculation as rumors fueled by Delhi's influence. TVK's recent district meetings focused on building grassroots strength without compromises.

The development intensifies Tamil Nadu's fractured political landscape, where DMK's alliance holds power after 2021, AIADMK rebuilds post-split, and BJP eyes expansion. Vijay, who launched TVK in 2024 after quitting films, draws massive youth support through anti-corruption rhetoric and Dravidian ideals, positioning himself as a MGR-like disruptor. Rejecting power-sharing allows TVK to craft a distinct narrative, though analysts question its winnability without allies in a first electoral outing.

As campaigns heat up for polls likely in April-May 2026, TVK's independence tests Vijay's star power against established machines. The snub sends a message to suitors: no deal unless Vijay leads, potentially forcing NDA or others to recalibrate seat math and leadership pacts. This saga highlights rising outsider forces challenging Tamil Nadu's bipolar DMK-AIADMK dominance.
