Nawazuddin Siddiqui Says He Has His Own Journey In Cinema

Nawazuddin Siddiqui says he isn’t here to replace Irrfan Khan.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has addressed comparisons with the late Irrfan Khan, saying he does not see himself as someone who needs to fill the “vacuum” left behind by the legendary performer and instead believes every actor has their own path in cinema.

In an interaction with NDTV, Siddiqui said he respects Irrfan Khan’s legacy but feels that it would be unfair to compare actors or expect one performer to replace another. According to him, each artist enters the film industry with their own journey, experiences, and creative ambitions.

Siddiqui emphasized that he never came to the industry with the intention of filling someone else’s space. “I have my own journey and identity as an actor,” he said, adding that cinema offers room for many different talents to grow and contribute. The actor noted that comparisons often arise naturally in the film industry, but they do not define an artist’s work or achievements.

The actor also spoke about the influence of strong performers in shaping Indian cinema. While acknowledging Irrfan Khan’s immense contribution and global recognition, Siddiqui said the late actor carved out a unique space through his dedication, subtle performances, and powerful storytelling.

Siddiqui, known for his roles in critically acclaimed films and web series, has built a reputation for portraying complex and unconventional characters. Over the years, he has earned praise for performances that highlight his versatility and commitment to realistic acting.

Reflecting on his career, Siddiqui said the focus should remain on telling meaningful stories and continuing to grow as an actor. He added that rather than replacing anyone, artists should concentrate on bringing their own voice and perspective to the screen, which ultimately enriches the diversity of Indian cinema.
