Nawazuddin Siddiqui Finally Reveals Secret Behind His Iconic Kick Villain Mannerisms

The 2014 blockbuster Kick completed 12 years since its release on July 25, with actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui reflecting on the creation of one of the film's most memorable villains, Shiv Gajra. Starring alongside Salman Khan, Nawazuddin's performance stood out for its distinctive mannerisms, including an eerie laugh, a signature tongue-clicking sound and an unsettling dialogue delivery that left a lasting impression on audiences.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, Nawazuddin revealed that the character's chilling laugh was inspired by fellow actor Manoj Bajpayee's performance in the 2001 psychological thriller Aks. He explained that while the laugh drew inspiration from Bajpayee's portrayal, he adapted it with his own creative interpretation to ensure it suited Shiv Gajra's personality and made the character more engaging for viewers.

The actor also shared the origin of the tongue-clicking sound that became another defining trait of the character. According to Nawazuddin, the gesture was something he and his fellow theatre artists frequently experimented with during their stage performances. Drawing from his theatre background, he incorporated the technique into Kick, helping give the antagonist a distinctive psychological presence on screen.

Nawazuddin has often credited his years in theatre for shaping his approach to acting, with many of his performances featuring carefully developed physical and vocal nuances.
