Malaika Arora's Mother Stranded in Dubai After Flights Cancelled Due to US-Iran War Hostilities
Joyce Arora shares a frightening Dubai experience after the US-Iran conflict cancelled her return flights.
Joyce Arora, the mother of Bollywood actor Malaika Arora, has said she remains stranded in Dubai after flight services were suspended amid the ongoing tensions linked to the conflict involving the United States and Iran. Joyce Arora had travelled to the city to celebrate a family birthday but has been unable to return to India after her scheduled flight was cancelled due to disruptions in air travel caused by the regional security situation.
Speaking about her experience, Joyce Arora described witnessing missile interceptions in the sky during the heightened tensions. “I must say, I feel safe here. In fact, I could see the missiles being intercepted in the sky with my own eyes. It was frightening, but the Dubai military is doing a fantastic job,” she told The Times of India. She added that although the situation was alarming, authorities in Dubai had managed the circumstances effectively and ensured the safety of residents and visitors.
Joyce Arora said she had travelled to Dubai to celebrate her elder sister’s birthday, and shortly after arriving, the family also celebrated her own birthday. However, her return journey to Mumbai, originally scheduled for March 3, was disrupted when airlines notified passengers that flights had been cancelled because of the developing conflict situation. She said she is now waiting for normal flight operations to resume so she can travel back home.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding travel plans, Joyce Arora said she remains in regular contact with her family in India. Her daughters, including Malaika Arora, are currently in Mumbai and have been checking on her frequently. According to Joyce Arora, they remain in touch several times a day as the family monitors updates regarding flight operations and the broader regional situation.
Several other Indian celebrities were also affected by the temporary suspension of flights in the region. Actors Sonal Chauhan and Esha Gupta were among those who had been stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi respectively during the disruptions. Both actors have since returned safely to India after flight operations gradually resumed.
After reaching India, Sonal Chauhan shared a message on social media thanking authorities for ensuring passenger safety during the disruption. She expressed gratitude for the support she received and praised the resilience of Dubai’s administration and residents during the tense period. Esha Gupta also posted a message acknowledging the efforts of both the Indian and UAE governments for coordinating assistance and ensuring the safe return of stranded travellers.
