Lucky Ali Reveals He Married Thrice in Different Countries, Says All Relationships Still Alive

Singer Lucky Ali reveals he married thrice in different countries, saying all his relationships remain alive.

Singer-composer Lucky Ali, celebrated for timeless hits like "O Sanam" and "Safarnama", has candidly revealed that he has been married three times across different countries, with each union ultimately dissolving but leaving enduring relationships and five children in its wake. In a rare interview with Navbharat Times published on November 11, 2025, the 67-year-old artist—who recently sparred publicly with lyricist Javed Akhtar on X over creative disputes—reflected on his unconventional personal life, stating, "It's not necessary that you start and end life with the same partner. I married three times, each time in a different country, and every situation was unique. Even my father married outside India, so our home was always very global. None of my marriages worked, but all my relationships are still alive. We don't live together, but we are always there for each other." This philosophy of sustained connection despite separation underscores Lucky's commitment to co-parenting, as he emphasised, "I've always been responsible towards my kids. I believe the only true way of parenting is through love—children learn from what they see their parents do."

Lucky's marital journey began with New Zealander Meaghan Jane McCleary, with whom he shares two children, Ta'awwuz and Tasmiyah, during his early years navigating fame post his 1996 debut album, Sunoh. His second marriage was to Inaya, a Persian woman, resulting in daughter Sara and son Raiyan, blending cultural influences that mirrored his own upbringing. In 2010, he wed British model and former beauty queen Kate Elizabeth Hallam, welcoming son Dani Maqsood Ali; the couple's union, though ended, maintains amicable ties.

This pattern echoes his father, legendary comedian Mehmood Ali, who married American Tracy after parting from Lucky's mother, Madhu Kumari (sister of iconic actress Meena Kumari), fostering a "global" household that shaped Lucky's worldview. Now residing on his farm in Bengaluru, far from Mumbai's glamour, Lucky embraces solitude, noting, "When you step away from the world's chaos, you finally start hearing your own soul," a sentiment that resonates in his selective musical comebacks, including recent collaborations and independent releases.

The revelation arrives amid Lucky's ongoing public discourse, following his October 2025 X exchange with Javed Akhtar, where he critiqued industry gatekeeping and advocated for artistic freedom—drawing parallels to his life's ethos of authenticity over convention. Fans on social media have lauded his transparency, with hashtags like #LuckyAliLife trending as admirers share stories of how his music provided solace during personal upheavals. His aunt Meena Kumari's influence remains poignant; Lucky reminisced about bunking school to visit her during illnesses, recalling her gentle admonitions, "Go back to school," while praising her as "an extremely loving and strong lady" who supported his mother unwaveringly. This familial legacy of resilience informs Lucky's approach to fatherhood across borders, ensuring his children's diverse heritages—spanning Kiwi, Persian, and British roots—are nurtured through presence rather than proximity.

Lucky's narrative challenges Bollywood's often glossy portrayals of romance, offering a mature perspective on love's fluidity in an era of fleeting connections. As he turns introspective in his later years, sporadic performances and farm life signal a contented chapter, where failed institutions yield to living bonds. His story not only humanises a reclusive icon but also inspires a generation grappling with modern relationships, proving that endings can birth enduring alliances rooted in mutual respect and shared legacies.
