Karan Johar Praises 'Alpha' Trailer as "Girl Power" Action Vehicle for Alia and Sharvari

The trailer of Alpha, the latest installment in the YRF Spy Universe starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has generated widespread excitement, with filmmaker Karan Johar leading the chorus of praise. Sharing his reaction on Instagram Stories, Johar described the action-packed film as a celebration of "girl power" and hailed the cast and creators for delivering what he called a potential "Block A Buster."

Expressing his enthusiasm, Johar wrote, "Get... set... go. This rock-and-roll actioner screams girl power in the best way. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are on a mission to Block A Buster. OG energy with Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. Shiv Rawail makes his bada screen debut with a bang. Pave the way, YRF. You are the mega creators of this mazedaar universe." His endorsement quickly gained attention among fans eagerly awaiting the film's release.

The newly released trailer offers an adrenaline-fuelled glimpse into the high-stakes action thriller, with Alia Bhatt taking center stage as Sita alongside Sharvari, who returns in full force after being absent from the teaser. The trailer introduces Bobby Deol's character, Baba, as a deceptive and dangerous antagonist, while Sita vows to defeat him in a mission that promises intense action and drama.

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor also makes a strong impression in the trailer, adding further star power to the film. One of the biggest highlights is the reveal of Hrithik Roshan's special appearance as Kabir, the iconic spy from War, confirming a crossover that further expands the interconnected YRF Spy Universe and heightens anticipation among audiences.

Alpha has witnessed multiple release date changes during production. Initially scheduled for a December release and later shifted to April 2026, the film was postponed due to extensive visual effects work. At the time, Yash Raj Films stated that the delay was necessary to ensure the film delivered the cinematic experience envisioned by the makers and met the highest technical standards.

Headlined by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, Alpha is now set to arrive in theatres on July 3 and will become the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe, following Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, Tiger 3, War, War 2 and Pathaan. With a female-led narrative, an ensemble cast and cross-franchise appearances, the film is positioned as one of the year's most anticipated Bollywood releases.
