Kangana vs. Sara: "Why Does She Have A Problem Being Sanatani?"
Kangana urges Sara to declare her Sanatani faith for temple entry.
Kangana Ranaut has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Sara Ali Khan and the reported requirement for non-Hindu devotees to submit proof of belief in Sanatan Dharma before visiting prominent Himalayan shrines. Speaking to the media outside Parliament on Wednesday, Kangana questioned Sara’s stance and suggested that there should be no hesitation if one genuinely wishes to seek blessings at religious sites like Badrinath Temple and Kedarnath Temple.
During her remarks, Kangana emphasized her views on Sanatan Dharma, stating that it is timeless and universal in nature. She argued that individuals born in India are inherently connected to the tradition and suggested that Sara should not have an issue declaring her belief if required. Kangana’s comments come amid a growing public debate on religious identity, access to places of worship, and the broader implications of such requirements in a diverse society.
The controversy stems from statements made by Hemant Dwivedi, Chairman of the Badri-Kedar Temple Committee, who indicated that non-Hindu devotees may need to submit an affidavit affirming their faith in Hinduism to offer prayers at these temples. According to Dwivedi, such a step is aimed at preserving the sanctity and traditions associated with these revered pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand.

Dwivedi further stated that devotees like Sara Ali Khan would be permitted to visit the temples if they formally express their devotion to Sanatan Dharma through the required documentation. His remarks have triggered widespread reactions across social, political, and entertainment circles, with opinions divided on whether such measures are appropriate or exclusionary in a secular country.
The issue has gained further traction due to Sara Ali Khan’s well-documented association with Kedarnath. The actress made her Bollywood debut with the film "Kedarnath", which was shot in the region, and has since been a frequent visitor to the shrine. Over the years, she has undertaken multiple trips to the temple, often sharing glimpses of her spiritual journeys with her followers.
As the debate continues, the controversy has raised broader questions about religious inclusivity, individual faith, and institutional regulations at major pilgrimage sites. While some voices support stricter adherence to traditional norms, others have called for a more inclusive approach that allows people of all backgrounds to engage with spiritual spaces without additional barriers.
