Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has shared a throwback picture from her school days in which she dressed up as Sita for a fancy dress competition, amid widespread discussion surrounding the recently released trailer of the upcoming Ramayana adaptation. The actor shared the image on social media and added a message that appeared to take a dig at critics and political opponents. The Ramayana trailer, released on Thursday, offered audiences the first glimpse of Sai Pallavi as Sita in the much-awaited adaptation. Sai Pallavi’s appearance and portrayal of the iconic mythological character sparked conversations online, with viewers discussing her look, performance and dialogue delivery.

Amid the reactions, Kangana shared her own childhood memory of portraying Sita during her school years. Taking to Instagram Stories, Kangana posted a photograph from 1997 showing herself dressed in a red sari while standing beside another student portraying Lord Ram. Another child can be seen sitting near her knees dressed as Hanuman.  The actor also shared details about the participants involved in the school performance along with the image. In another post featuring a closer view of the photograph, Kangana highlighted her appearance as Sita from the school event.

She was seen with her hair open and parted to one side, holding her right palm open in a gesture resembling a blessing. Along with the picture, she wrote, "My aashirvad to all liberals," accompanied by laughing emojis. Kangana’s post came at a time when discussions around mythological portrayals and cultural representation were gaining attention following the release of the Ramayana trailer. The actor has frequently shared opinions on cultural and political topics through her social media platforms, often leading to public discussions and reactions.
