Kajol Reflects on Every Role as The Trial Season 2 Nears Release
Kajol embraces her entire career ahead of The Trial Season 2.
Bollywood icon Kajol, whose illustrious career spans over three decades, remains unwavering in her commitment to every film she has undertaken, from timeless blockbusters like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to lesser-known ventures such as Gundaraj and Hulchul. In an exclusive interview with PTI, the actor expressed pride in her entire filmography, stating, “I own them completely and totally, I take full responsibility for each and every one of them. Credit or discredit, belongs to me.”
Debuting in 1992 with Bekhudi, Kajol has delivered iconic performances in films like Baazigar, Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Fanaa, and My Name Is Khan. Reflecting on her journey, she highlighted the personal milestones she has lived out on screen—falling in love, getting married, and raising children—while expressing gratitude for the audience’s enduring affection. “I’ve lived my life in front of the cameras... and yet people look at me with so much love and forgive all my little idiosyncrasies,” she said.
Kajol’s latest project, the second season of The Trial, premieres on JioHotstar on September 19. Adapted from The Good Wife, the series features her as Noyonika, a housewife navigating the legal world after her husband’s arrest in a scandal. Unlike her film roles, reprising Noyonika offered a unique opportunity to evolve a character across seasons. “It’s like reading the second chapter of a book,” Kajol noted, describing how Noyonika transitions from uncertainty in season one to newfound confidence in season two, tackling new challenges and betrayals in the cutthroat legal arena.

Rejecting the notion of a single defining decade, Kajol views her career through standout performances in films like Udhaar Ki Zindagi, Dushman, and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. “I’ve been blessed with really good work throughout,” she said, emphasizing her gratitude for remaining relevant in an evolving industry. As she prepares for The Trial’s next chapter, Kajol’s reflections underscore her resilience and authenticity, cementing her status as one of India’s most cherished cinematic figures.
