Justice Delivered: Life Sentences for 2011 Slaying
Three convicted for brutal robbery-murder.
A Muzaffarnagar court has sentenced Rahul Mittal, Saurabh Verma, and Naushad to life imprisonment for the 2011 murder of Kavita Aggarwal during a botched robbery. On July 8, 2025, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ravikant found the trio guilty under Sections 302 (murder) and 394 (causing hurt during robbery) of the Indian Penal Code, also fining each Rs 13,000.
The crime took place on August 3, 2011, in Reshu Vihar, when the accused broke into Aggarwal’s home to steal. Her resistance led to her throat being slit, resulting in her immediate death. The victim’s husband, Prahlad Aggarwal, filed an FIR against unknown perpetrators, but investigations pinpointed the three men.
Government counsel Ashish Tyagi emphasized the verdict as a triumph of justice, underscoring the court’s firm stance against violent crimes. This ruling closes a painful chapter for the victim’s family.
