Jason Sanjay’s Directorial Debut ‘Sigma’ To Release In Theatres On July 31

Jason Sanjay’s debut film Sigma releases worldwide on July 31.

Jason Sanjay, son of actor Vijay, is set to make his directorial debut with the film Sigma, which has now been officially scheduled for worldwide release on July 31. The announcement was made by Lyca Productions, which is backing the project, marking the culmination of nearly three years of development.

The film, which was announced in August 2023, has reportedly been shot over a span of four months with a total production schedule of around 65 shooting days. Early visuals, including a motion poster released last year, suggest that Sigma is structured as a thriller with elements of action, comedy and drama, centred on a “lone wolf” protagonist involved in crime-related sequences and a treasure-hunt-style narrative.

The lead role is played by actor Sundeep Kishan, who reportedly features in a character-driven storyline that blends intense action with lighter narrative moments. The supporting cast includes Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt, Anbu Thasan and Yogi Babu, among others, bringing together a broad ensemble cast for the project.

Speaking about his debut, Jason Sanjay said Sigma has been a deeply personal and enriching journey, adding that he is grateful to the production house for their trust and support throughout the filmmaking process. He also acknowledged the contribution of the cast and technical crew, stating that their involvement was crucial in shaping the final outcome of the film.

A representative from Lyca Productions noted that the project reflects strong creative clarity and commitment from the debutant director, praising his approach to storytelling and execution. The film’s technical team includes music composer Thaman S, cinematographer Krishnan Vasant, editor Praveen KL, and VFX supervisor Hariharasuthan, indicating a high-production-value setup.

The makers have also confirmed that streaming platform Netflix has acquired the digital rights for Sigma, ensuring a post-theatrical global release. With its mix of genre elements and strong industry backing, the film is being positioned as a significant debut project for Jason Sanjay in the Tamil film industry.
