Jacqueline Fernandez Denies Money Laundering Charges in Rs 200 Crore Sukesh Chandrashekhar Case
Jacqueline Fernandez personally appeared in court and denied all PMLA charges against her.
Bollywood Actor Jacqueline Fernandez on Wednesday denied all charges against her in a money laundering case linked to an alleged ₹200 crore extortion racket involving accused conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. The development came during proceedings at Delhi's Patiala House Court, where charges were formally framed against the actor under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Fernandez appeared in person before the court and stated that she would contest the allegations through trial.
The case is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which has alleged that proceeds generated from the purported extortion racket were used to provide expensive gifts and other benefits to several individuals. According to the agency, Fernandez received gifts and advantages allegedly connected to funds obtained through unlawful activities carried out by Chandrashekhar and his associates. The actor, however, has consistently denied any wrongdoing and maintains that she was unaware of the alleged criminal origins of the assets in question.
Apart from Fernandez, the list of accused includes Sukesh Chandrashekhar, his wife Leena Maria Paul, and several others. The ED's investigation centers on allegations that Chandrashekhar orchestrated a large-scale extortion network targeting high-profile individuals and businesspersons. The agency claims the operation generated proceeds of crime amounting to approximately ₹200 crore, which were subsequently laundered through various channels.

With the framing of charges completed, the case is now set to proceed to trial, where evidence and witness testimonies will be examined in court. The proceedings are expected to attract significant public and media attention given the involvement of a prominent film actor and the high-profile nature of the allegations. Fernandez's denial of the charges means the court will now move toward a full hearing of the matter before determining any criminal liability.
