Independence Day Event: Trisha Krishnan Salutes Tamil Nadu CM Vijay

Trisha Krishnan salutes CM Vijay during Tamil Nadu’s Independence Day event.

Actress Trisha Krishnan attended the 80th Independence Day celebrations at Fort St George on Saturday, where Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay hoisted the National Flag. Trisha was among the notable guests at the ceremony and was seated in the front row alongside Vijay's parents, S.A. Chandrasekhar and Shoba Chandrasekhar.

A video from the event has attracted attention on social media, showing Trisha saluting Vijay as he passed by in an open jeep during the official proceedings. The footage was shared by Sun News and subsequently circulated widely online. Trisha attended the ceremony with her mother, Uma Krishnan, as the celebrations took place at the historic Secretariat complex.

Trisha opted for a traditional appearance for the occasion, wearing a gold-toned saree with minimal jewellery. She completed the look with a floral gajra in her hair. Her presence at the Independence Day ceremony alongside several senior government officials and dignitaries drew attention from those following the event.

During his address after hoisting the National Flag, Vijay extended greetings to Tamils across the world and referred to his younger supporters. He also spoke about his government's stated efforts to address corruption and improve transparency in administration. Vijay described preventing the diversion of government revenue for private benefit as part of the broader effort to protect public welfare.

Vijay and Trisha have worked together in several Tamil films, including Ghilli, Thirupaachi, Aathi, Kuruvi and Leo. Their professional association has made them familiar faces to Tamil cinema audiences, while their public appearances together have periodically attracted attention online.

In recent months, social media discussions have also included speculation about Vijay and Trisha's personal relationship. Neither actor has publicly confirmed the claims, and their presence at the Independence Day event was in the context of the official celebrations. The event itself marked Vijay's first Independence Day ceremony as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, with the flag-hoisting and address taking place at Fort St George.
