Amidst a swirl of confusion, Govinda's current secretary Shashi Sinha found himself at the centre of an erroneous rumour regarding his own death. The mix-up arose due to his shared name with Govinda's late former secretary, Shashi Prabhu, whose passing on March 6 had deeply saddened many.
Shashi Sinha clarified the misunderstanding, dismissing reports of his death and shedding light on the sequence of events. Speaking to news agency IANS, he revealed, “I have been receiving numerous condolences messages and calls on my phone since the false news of my death circulated.”
"Since I share the same name as Govinda's old friend and former secretary Shashi Prabhu, the confusion led to this false news. Shashi Prabhu was his secretary at the time of Ilzaam, after that, I have been looking after this work," he said.
Govinda's former secretary Shashi Prabhu died on March 6 in Mumbai. He was reportedly battling heart problems and had currently undergone a bypass surgery. An emotional Govinda was in attendance at his former secretary’s home to offer his respects and moral support to his family.
Reflecting on the bond Govinda shared with Shashi Prabhu, Sinha shared with ETimes, "Shashi Prabhu was not just a secretary but a childhood friend of Govinda. During Govinda's early struggles, he was like a brother. Their relationship remained strong over the years, and Govinda deeply valued his presence."
Beyond his role with Govinda, Shashi Sinha manages the affairs of several other Bollywood celebrities, including Aamir Khan, Ayesha Jhulka, and Sangeeta Bijlani.
Recently, Govinda himself became the subject of a rumour that he and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, were headed for a divorce after 37 years of marriage. Eventually, Sunita clarified that they were untrue and that they lived in separate homes to ensure the privacy of their family during Govinda’s increasing political duties.
