Kalki 2898 AD Pay Revealed: Kamal Haasan Allegedly Earned $2 Million Per Shoot Day

Director Yugi Sethu claimed Kamal Haasan earned Rs 150 crore for 20 days on Kalki 2898 AD.

Veteran Actor Kamal Haasan reportedly received an extraordinary remuneration for his role in the blockbuster sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD, according to filmmaker-actor Yugi Sethu. In a recent interview, Yugi claimed that Haasan was paid as much as $2 million per day during the film’s shoot, highlighting the actor’s immense stature in the Indian film industry. 

Speaking about the payment structure, Yugi initially estimated that Haasan was paid around $1 million per day for the first instalment. However, after meeting the film’s producer, Aswani Dutt, he said he learned that the remuneration was even higher. According to Yugi, Haasan was paid approximately ₹150 crore for about 20 days of shooting, which would translate to nearly $2 million per day during the production schedule.

Yugi described Haasan as the “highest-paid actor in India” based on the reported payment. Recalling a conversation with the veteran star, he said he congratulated Haasan on his birthday for the record-breaking remuneration and praised his unmatched influence in Indian cinema. Haasan, widely regarded as one of the most versatile actors in the industry, has enjoyed a career spanning decades across multiple languages.

In the first instalment of Kalki 2898 AD, Haasan appeared in a relatively brief but impactful role. Reports suggest that the actor will have a significantly larger and more prominent part in the sequel, which is currently in development. The film, featuring an ensemble cast and a futuristic storyline, became one of the most talked-about Indian releases of recent years.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD blends mythology and science fiction, with Haasan playing a mysterious antagonist. The movie also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan, making it one of the biggest multi-star projects in Indian cinema.

The claims about Haasan’s remuneration have sparked discussion among fans and industry observers, underlining the massive budgets and star power now associated with large-scale Indian cinematic productions. With the sequel expected to expand Haasan’s role, anticipation around the next chapter of the Kalki franchise continues to grow.
