Grammys 2026: Anoushka Shankar, Siddhant Bhatia And Charu Suri Nominated But No Victories

Indian nominees in global and instrumental categories at Grammys 2026 failed to win, despite strong presence.

Indian-origin artists Anoushka Shankar, Siddhant Bhatia and Charu Suri failed to secure top honours at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles, despite earning nominations in key categories. Their presence at the global music event, however, marked continued international recognition for Indian and Indian-origin talent on one of the world’s biggest musical stages.

Sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar, who has been nominated multiple times in the past, was once again in the spotlight this year. Widely respected for blending Indian classical music with contemporary and global influences, Shankar was seen as a strong contender in her category. Despite missing out on the award, her nomination reaffirmed her standing as one of the most prominent Indian musicians in the international music circuit.

Composer and producer Siddhant Bhatia, known for his work across independent and film music spaces, was also among those who did not take home a Grammy. His nomination was viewed as a significant milestone, reflecting the growing visibility of Indian-origin composers in global music platforms traditionally dominated by Western artists.

Charu Suri, an acclaimed jazz pianist and composer, similarly missed out on a win. Suri has been recognised internationally for her innovative fusion of jazz with Indian musical elements, and her nomination was seen as a breakthrough moment for South Asian representation in jazz and experimental music categories.

While the three artists did not clinch awards, their nominations were widely celebrated within the Indian music community. Industry observers noted that consistent representation at the Grammys signals a broader shift toward inclusivity and recognition of diverse musical traditions beyond mainstream Western genres.

The 2026 Grammy Awards featured strong competition across categories, with major wins going to global stars such as Bad Bunny, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar. For Indian-origin artists, experts say continued nominations and international exposure remain crucial steps toward greater acceptance and success on the world’s most prestigious music platforms.
