FWICE Bans Ranveer Singh Over Don 3 Exit; Farhan Akhtar Seeks Rs 45 Crore Damages
FWICE bans Ranveer Singh; Farhan Akhtar demands Rs 45 crore damages.
Actor Ranveer Singh is facing industry backlash after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him over his reported exit from the upcoming film Don 3. The action follows allegations that the actor withdrew from the project just weeks before shooting was scheduled to begin, leading to significant disruptions for the production team. The controversy has also reportedly triggered a demand for damages worth Rs 45 crore from filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and the film’s producers.
Speaking to the media in Mumbai on Monday, FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit said the production team had filed a formal complaint against Ranveer Singh on April 11. According to Pandit, the actor exited the film approximately three weeks before the unit was set to leave for the shoot. FWICE subsequently invited both parties to present their side of the matter. Producer Ritesh Sidhwani attended the meeting in person, while Farhan Akhtar joined remotely through Zoom as he was reportedly in London at the time.
FWICE alleged that despite sending three reminders, Ranveer Singh did not respond to the organisation’s request to appear before the body and discuss the dispute. As a result, the federation decided to issue a non-cooperation order against the actor. Such directives are considered serious within the film industry, as they can affect professional collaborations and ongoing projects involving technicians, workers, and affiliated unions. The organisation has maintained that its decision was based on procedural non-compliance and the financial impact the reported withdrawal had on the production.

Ranveer Singh had earlier been announced as the new lead of the franchise, replacing Shah Rukh Khan, which generated widespread attention among fans and industry observers. Neither Ranveer Singh nor his representatives had publicly responded to the latest allegations at the time of reporting, while discussions surrounding the future of the film continue within the industry.
