Emraan Hashmi Talks About His Role and Viral Dialogue in Ba**ds of Bollywood*

Emraan Hashmi says his *Ba**ds of Bollywood* cameo was meant to go viral—and it did.

Emraan Hashmi has embraced the viral sensation surrounding his cameo in the Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, admitting that the team anticipated the scene's explosive online impact. During the trailer launch of his upcoming film Haq on October 27, 2025, the actor addressed the buzz generated by a dialogue delivered by Raghav Juyal: "Akkha Bollywood ek taraf, Emraan Hashmi ek taraf" (The whole of Bollywood on one side, Emraan Hashmi on the other).

Hashmi, who appears as an actor and intimacy coach guiding leads Lakshya and Sahher Bambba, noted that while virality was expected, the scale exceeded predictions. "We knew that it would go viral, but we never imagined it would go viral in such a way. Lesson to be learnt," he shared with the media.

The scene, set against Juyal's character singing Hashmi's classic track "Kaho Na Kaho", celebrates the actor's enduring influence in Hindi cinema. Hashmi expressed delight that fans now reference this line over his long-standing "serial kisser" moniker from early 2000s hits like Murder and Zeher. "Before this, fans used to either call me by name or they had a different image of mine which starts with 'S'. Now, people remember that dialogue when they talk about me. So I have no complaints. I'm happy," he remarked. Directed by Aryan Khan in his debut, the seven-episode series satirises Bollywood's underbelly through newcomer Aasmaan Singh's (Lakshya) journey, featuring a star-studded cast including Bobby Deol, Mona Singh, and Manoj Pahwa.

The Ba***ds of Bollywood has sparked widespread discussion for its insider portrayal of fame, nepotism, and industry machinations, with Hashmi's brief but memorable role amplifying its cultural resonance.

Streaming exclusively on Netflix, the project marks another OTT venture for Hashmi, who has transitioned from romantic thrillers to diverse characters in films like Tiger 3 and web series like Bard of Blood. The viral dialogue has trended across social platforms, spawning memes and fan edits that reposition Hashmi as a Bollywood benchmark rather than a niche stereotype.

Looking ahead, Hashmi stars in Haq, a courtroom drama inspired by the landmark 1980s Shah Bano case, opposite Yami Gautam. Directed by Suparn S Varma and produced by Junglee Pictures, the film explores themes of justice, gender, and law and is slated for theatrical release on November 7, 2025. As The Ba***ds continues to dominate conversations, Hashmi's candid reflection highlights how strategic cameos can redefine public perception in the digital age.
