'De De Pyaar De 2' Sees Big Box Office Surge, Records 40% Jump on Day 2
Ajay Devgn's rom-com sequel hits Rs 21 crore in two days.
Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh's De De Pyaar De 2 is gaining impressive momentum at the domestic box office, registering a robust 40% jump from its opening day. After debuting with Rs 8.75 crore on Friday, November 14, 2025, the film raked in Rs 12.25 crore on Saturday, pushing its two-day total to Rs 21 crore net. Trade analyst Sacnilk reports this strong performance signals positive word-of-mouth, setting the stage for a promising weekend amid competition from other releases.
The film's Hindi occupancy on Saturday stood at 20.53% overall, with a noticeable uptick in later shows reflecting audience enthusiasm. Morning screenings drew 7.60%, while afternoon and evening slots hit 16.28% and 21.72%, respectively. Night shows peaked at 36.50%, indicating families and young viewers flocking to theaters post-dinner. This growth outpaces expectations for a mid-budget rom-com, especially as it outperforms Ajay's previous sequel Son of Sardaar 2's opening day haul of Rs 6.75 crore.
Directed by Anshul Sharma and penned by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain, De De Pyaar De 2 revisits the age-gap romance theme from the 2019 original. Ajay reprises his role as Ashish Mehra, a 52-year-old London investor navigating love with 28-year-old Ayesha Khurana, played by Rakul Preet Singh. The sequel introduces fresh conflicts, particularly with R Madhavan as Ayesha's protective father Rajji, whose clashes with Ashish add layers of humor and drama. Supporting roles by Jaaved Jaaferi, Meezaan Jafri, Gautami Kapoor, and Ishita Dutta enhance the ensemble dynamic.

Produced by T-Series and Luv Films, the movie blends comedy with heartfelt family moments, earning praise for its light-hearted take on modern relationships. R Madhavan's portrayal has sparked buzz, with many highlighting his chemistry with Ajay as a standout element. The 2.5-hour runtime delivers consistent laughs, bolstered by the Jaarey brothers' comedic timing, making it a family-friendly watch during the festive season.
Post-theatrical, De De Pyaar De 2 is slated for a Netflix premiere in January 2026, extending its reach to streaming audiences. With Sunday projections eyeing another Rs 10-12 crore, the film could cross Rs 30 crore by the end of its opening weekend— a solid benchmark for sustaining runs in key markets like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad. As positive reviews continue to build, this sequel reaffirms Ajay Devgn's draw in feel-good entertainers.
