Cocktail 2 Shoot in Delhi Paused Amid Red Fort Blast and Rising Pollution Concerns
Cocktail 2 filming in Delhi delayed due to Red Fort blast and worsening air pollution; shoot postponed to December.
The highly anticipated production of Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna, has been put on hold following a blast near Delhi’s Red Fort and a surge in the city’s alarming air pollution levels. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film was scheduled to begin shooting in the capital on November 12 but has now been delayed as a precautionary measure.
According to sources close to the production, the filmmakers decided to postpone the Delhi leg after reviewing reports of worsening air quality and heightened tensions. The crew had planned to shoot key sequences across South Delhi, Central Delhi, and the bustling university area. However, mounting safety risks have prompted the team to temporarily pause operations until conditions stabilize.
Production insiders revealed that the decision was made considering both environmental and security threats. The Red Fort area, where one of the major sequences was to be filmed, now falls within the region under high alert following Monday’s explosion, which occurred near the Red Fort Metro Station. The blast claimed at least nine lives and injured 20 others when an explosion tore through a car, leaving the vicinity scattered with debris and damaged vehicles.

Officials have invoked sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), citing possible terror links based on intelligence and forensic assessments. While the investigation continues, the city remains under tightened security surveillance. In light of these developments, the makers of Cocktail 2 have confirmed that the Delhi schedule is not cancelled but merely postponed to December, provided the situation improves.
Serving as a sequel to the 2012 hit Cocktail—which featured Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty—the new film marks Homi Adajania’s return to the director’s chair with a fresh story and a new lead trio. With fans eagerly awaiting its release, the unforeseen delay underscores the production challenges facing Bollywood amid India’s dual battle against pollution and urban security threats.
