Caretaker Of Raveena Tandon’s Mother Held In ₹25 Lakh Jewellery Theft Case In Mumbai

Caretaker of Raveena Tandon’s mother arrested for jewellery theft.

A 47-year-old woman has been arrested by the Mumbai Police’s Juhu unit for allegedly stealing gold ornaments and luxury watches worth approximately ₹25 lakh from the residence of Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon’s family, officials said on Tuesday. The accused had reportedly been working as a caretaker for the family for several years.

According to police sources, the woman had been associated with the Tandon family since 2020 and frequently visited their Juhu residence to assist in the care of Raveena Tandon’s 86-year-old mother, Veena Tandon. Due to her close access to the household, she was allegedly able to move freely within certain areas of the residence.

Investigators said the accused is alleged to have broken open a locker at the family’s home and stolen a collection of gold and diamond jewellery belonging to Veena Tandon. The missing items reportedly included gold bangles, necklaces, rings, earrings, and a diamond-studded mangalsutra, along with other valuables. Two luxury watches belonging to film producer Rajiv Tandon, Raveena Tandon’s brother, were also allegedly stolen.

The theft came to light when the family reportedly opened the locker on October 2, 2025, ahead of the Dussehra festival, and discovered that it had been tampered with. Following the discovery, Rajiv Tandon lodged a formal complaint with the Juhu police station, prompting an investigation into the matter.

Police officials said that during initial questioning, the accused allegedly denied involvement in the theft. However, based on evidence gathered during the probe, she was subsequently arrested. Some of the stolen watches are reported to have been recovered during the investigation, while efforts are ongoing to trace the remaining jewellery.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly told the family that the stolen jewellery had been handed over to another individual and assured them it would be returned. However, the valuables were never recovered, leading the family to approach law enforcement authorities.

The case remains under active investigation as police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft, including how the accused accessed the locker and whether any accomplices were involved. Authorities are also working to recover the remaining missing items and verify the chain of custody of the recovered watches.
