Bollywood and Fans Mourn Passing of Zarine Katrak, Mother of Zayed and Sussanne Khan

Zarine Katrak, the 81-year-old wife of veteran actor Sanjay Khan and mother to actors Zayed Khan and Sussanne Khan, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, at her Mumbai residence. She had been battling age-related ailments, with family and friends gathering to bid her a heartfelt farewell. Her demise has left the Bollywood fraternity and fans mourning the loss of a revered figure.

Several celebrities, including Aly Goni, Jasmin Bhasin, Bobby Deol, Jaya and Shweta Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Sussanne Khan’s close friends, arrived at Sanjay Khan’s house to pay their final respects. Notably, Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin, who share close ties with the Khan family, were seen arriving in somber spirits. The overwhelming support from the film community and friends underscored Zarine’s impact on those around her.

Zarine Katrak was not only a beloved figure in Bollywood circles but also a talented interior designer and cookbook author, known for her warmth and generosity. She appeared in films like Tere Ghar Ke Saamne in her younger days and was recognized as a pillar of strength for her family. Her marriage to Sanjay Khan began in 1966 after a chance meeting at a bus stop, creating a remarkable love story that spanned decades.

Daughter Farah Khan Ali previously paid tribute to her mother in 2024, describing Zarine as “kind, caring, generous, loving, strong, loyal, and family-oriented.” Son Zayed Khan, in a touching post on Women’s Day, acknowledged the unwavering support and strength of the women in his life, including his mother. These tributes highlight the deep bond Zarine shared with her family.

Zarine’s absence leaves a void in the Khan family and the Bollywood community at large, with mourners remembering her not only for her contributions and talents but also for the grace and warmth she brought to all aspects of her life.
