Bobby Deol to Play Complex, Authoritative Role in YRF’s Next With Ahaan Panday, Sharvari

Bobby Deol joins Ali Abbas Zafar’s YRF action romance, playing a powerful, grey role alongside Ahaan Panday.

Bobby Deol has been cast in a pivotal grey-shaded role in Yash Raj Films' upcoming untitled action-romance directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, marking the launchpad for Ananya Panday's cousin Ahaan Panday alongside Sharvari. The 56-year-old actor, riding a career resurgence with intense performances in Animal and Ba***ds of Bollywood, will portray a character wielding strong authority but layered with complexity—not a traditional villain. Production is slated to begin in the UK in early 2026, reuniting Zafar with YRF chief Aditya Chopra for their fifth collaboration following Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Gunday, Sultan, and Tiger Zinda Hai.

Sources describe Deol's part as one that evolves unpredictably, deeply impacting the hero's journey. "It would be incorrect to call him the antagonist. His character holds an authoritative position... but there’s more than meets the eye," an insider told Midday, emphasising Zafar's vision for a "larger-than-life" presence that evokes fear while revealing nuanced brutality unseen in Deol's recent roles.

The director aims to deliver "fan service" by unveiling a fresh avatar for Deol, capitalising on his demand for unconventional, powerful characters post his acclaimed antagonistic turns. This casting adds high-voltage intrigue to the project, blending intense drama with emotional depth and action sequences.

Ahaan Panday, making his Bollywood debut under the YRF banner, will share screen space with Deol for the first time, promising a dynamic mentor-protégé or adversarial clash. Sharvari, fresh from successes like Munjya and Maharaj, leads opposite the newcomer in what is billed as a high-octane romance.

As Deol continues his hot streak in Bollywood's villain renaissance, this role underscores YRF's strategy to infuse star power into new talent launches. The film is poised to be a major 2026 release, blending Zafar's mass-appeal storytelling with Deol's commanding screen presence.
