Bhooth Bangla Faces Third Week Slowdown as Akshay Kumar Film Dips Below Rs 1 Crore Daily

Akshay Kumar's horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla logs Rs 0.65 crore on Day 19 amid third-week slowdown.

The horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan, continues its theatrical run with steady but slowing momentum as it enters the third week at the box office. Despite competition from newer releases, the film has managed to sustain a modest audience turnout, reflecting consistent interest in the genre.

On Day 19, which marked its third Tuesday in theatres, the film collected approximately Rs 0.65 crore net across 2,191 shows, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The overall occupancy stood at 15%, indicating a typical weekday dip. Morning shows recorded a low occupancy of 6.54%, with marginal improvement expected in later shows, although significant growth remains unlikely due to weekday trends.

Region-wise data shows a mixed performance across major centres. The National Capital Region led in terms of show count and recorded around 11% occupancy, while Mumbai saw approximately 8% turnout. Cities like Jaipur and Lucknow posted slightly better figures at 10% each, whereas Surat reported one of the lowest occupancies at just 2%. Other urban centres, including Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, largely remained in single-digit occupancy brackets.

In terms of overall performance, Bhooth Bangla has achieved notable milestones since its release. The film has collected around Rs 144.9 crore net in India and approximately Rs 172.09 crore gross domestically. Its global earnings have reached about Rs 227.97 crore, underscoring a strong international response despite a gradual slowdown in domestic collections during weekdays.

The film opened with paid previews of Rs 3.75 crore, followed by an opening day collection of Rs 12.25 crore. It witnessed a robust first weekend, earning Rs 19 crore on Saturday and Rs 23 crore on Sunday. However, like many theatrical releases, it experienced a decline on weekdays, collecting Rs 6.75 crore on its first Monday, before closing Week 1 with a total of Rs 84.40 crore.

While the second weekend brought a temporary boost, with Rs 10.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 12.50 crore on Sunday, weekday declines persisted, resulting in a Week 2 total of Rs 43.75 crore. As Week 3 progresses, the film faces increasing competition, including recent releases such as Raja Shivaji, and is expected to maintain a slower pace in the coming days, though its overall box office run remains solid for its genre.
