'Bhai Tera Star Hai' Review: Raghav Juyal Impresses, But Comedy Misses The Mark

Raghav Juyal's first theatrical outing as a solo lead arrives with Bhai Tera Star Hai, a fast-paced comedy that aims to blend social media humour, slapstick and mistaken identities. Despite Juyal's energetic performance and the Bollywood debut of digital creator Niharika NM, the film struggles to rise above a weak script and an overstuffed narrative. Directed by Vivek B. Agrawal, the comedy attempts to deliver a breezy entertainer but ultimately falls short due to its chaotic storytelling and excessive reliance on clichés.

The film follows Ajay Singh (Raghav Juyal), an aspiring actor based in the UK who finds himself in trouble after losing a cricket bet and owing £10,000 to a local pub owner named Fatty, played by Sanjay Kapoor. Given just 90 minutes to repay the money, Ajay resorts to a series of lies that trigger an escalating chain of misunderstandings involving his girlfriend Roshni (Niharika NM), her brother Sid (Vivan Bathena), and several other characters. A real-time countdown, emojis, text overlays and rapid-fire comic situations attempt to maintain the pace but often end up making the narrative feel cluttered and confusing.

Raghav brings enthusiasm and comic timing to the lead role, making the most of material that rarely gives him the opportunity to shine. Niharika NM makes a confident Bollywood debut and fits comfortably into the film's energetic tone, although her performance is constrained by the screenplay. Sanjay Kapoor stands out as the loud yet entertaining antagonist Fatty, while supporting actors including Barkha Singh, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Vikalp Mehta and Chandan Roy Sanyal contribute to the film's ensemble cast.

While Bhai Tera Star Hai is designed as a light-hearted comedy, the screenplay relies heavily on repetitive misunderstandings, exaggerated situations and multiple subplots that dilute the central story. The film's attempts to maintain constant humour through visual gimmicks and rapid pacing leave little room for emotional depth or coherent storytelling. Even the inclusion of song-and-dance sequences after the main narrative concludes does little to enhance the overall viewing experience.

Overall, Bhai Tera Star Hai offers moments of entertainment, primarily due to Raghav's committed performance and Sanjay Kapoor's lively portrayal of the antagonist. However, an inconsistent script, overcrowded narrative and underdeveloped comedy prevent it from becoming the breakthrough vehicle Raghav may have hoped for. For viewers seeking a light, no-frills comedy, the film may provide occasional laughs, but it is unlikely to leave a lasting impression.
