Before 'Saiyaara', Aneet Padda Shot 'Hunkkaar – The Roar' as A 17-Year-Old Assault Survivor

Aneet Padda is set to return with Hunkkaar, a thriller series in which she plays a 17-year-old school student who courageously reports an assault to the police. The teaser introduces her character, Meenu Rawat, at a police station as she recounts what happened to her. The series was filmed before Aneet's breakthrough in Saiyaara and is now scheduled to premiere on JioHotstar on September 25.

The teaser opens with a close-up of Aneet as Meenu, a student at Mahasherni School at Baapji's Shaburi Fort. She approaches the police and reports that she was assaulted by Baapji. Fatima Sana Shaikh plays the police inspector assigned to investigate the case, while the mystery surrounding Baapji forms a central part of the thriller's storyline.

The teaser also offers glimpses of the show's wider cast, including Ram Kapoor, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur and Zoya Hussain. Hunkkaar is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment in association with Purple Pebble Pictures, with Mangata Films as the production banner. The series is titled Hunkkaar – The Roar and is scheduled to stream exclusively on JioHotstar.

Sharing the teaser, Aneet revealed that the project has been part of her acting journey for some time. She noted that she had filmed Hunkkaar before Saiyaara and expressed happiness about finally being able to present the project to audiences. The announcement comes after the actor's rapid rise following the success of her 2025 musical romantic drama.

Aneet began her career in modelling and advertising before making her acting debut with a supporting role in Salaam Venky in 2022. She later gained wider recognition with the Amazon Prime Video series Big Girls Don't Cry in 2024 and appeared in Yuva Sapno Ka Safar in 2025. Her major breakthrough came with Saiyaara, where she starred opposite Ahaan Panday.

Saiyaara became one of the biggest Indian releases of 2025, earning more than ₹580 crore worldwide, according to the information provided. Aneet received attention for her performance as a young songwriter living with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. With Hunkkaar, she takes on a darker thriller role, while her upcoming projects also include Maddock Films' horror comedy Shakti Shalini.
