Badshah’s “Tateeree” Controversy: 857 YouTube, Instagram Posts Removed by Haryana Police
Haryana Police remove 857 online posts of Badshah’s “Tateeree” after FIR citing objectionable content.
Haryana Police on Monday said it has removed 857 online links related to rapper-musician Badshah’s controversial song Tateeree, following an FIR registered against him on March 6 for allegedly featuring objectionable lyrics and visuals. The action comes amid intensified efforts by the state to curb the spread of content deemed derogatory towards women and minors.
The police confirmed that the removals included 154 YouTube videos and 703 Instagram reels, carried out in coordination with social media platforms after issuing notices to take down all versions of the song, including re-uploads and short clips. The move is part of a broader crackdown to maintain a safe digital environment.
DGP Ajay Singhal said, “Any form of objectionable content undermining the dignity of women and minors will not be tolerated. Strict legal action will continue in cases like Tateeree.” He added that monitoring of digital platforms has been strengthened to ensure compliance with the law and to send a strong societal message.

ADGP and Panchkula Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj warned that anyone found creating or sharing reels, shorts, or other videos using the banned song will face strict legal consequences. He emphasised that the Haryana government is committed to creating a responsible digital space through continuous enforcement measures in collaboration with the police.
On March 19, the police informed the Punjab and Haryana High Court that Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, had joined the investigation linked to the FIR. The rapper-musician had also issued an apology via his official Instagram account, expressing regret if the song hurt anyone’s sentiments.
The FIR was initially filed following a complaint by a resident alleging objectionable content in the music video. While Badshah had challenged an order from the Haryana State Women’s Commission directing his arrest, the state counsel clarified before the High Court that no action would be taken based on that order. The petitioner subsequently chose not to pursue the matter further.
