Asha Bhosle's Funeral With State Honors to be Held In Mumbai; Sachin Tendulkar, Tabu Pay Last Respects
Celebrities and leaders gather in Mumbai to honour Asha Bhosle at her state funeral.
The mortal remains of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle were laid out for public homage at her residence in Lower Parel on Monday, drawing a large number of prominent personalities and grieving admirers. Draped in the national flag, the singer’s body was placed in the lobby as a steady stream of mourners arrived to pay their final respects in a solemn and emotionally charged atmosphere.
Among those who visited were veteran actor Asha Parekh, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, his wife Anjali Tendulkar, and actor Tabu. Several political figures, including Supriya Sule, Ashish Shelar, and Mangal Prabhat Lodha, also paid homage, offering condolences to the bereaved family. Actor Riteish Deshmukh and Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel were among others who attended.
A sombre mood enveloped the premises as fans and well-wishers, many with folded hands and teary eyes, gathered to bid farewell to the iconic singer. The presence of a police band added to the gravity of the moment, while tight security arrangements were put in place to manage the large turnout and ensure order during the proceedings.

Asha Bhosle, aged 92, passed away on Sunday at Breach Candy Hospital after suffering from multi-organ failure. Widely regarded as one of the most versatile and prolific voices in Indian music, she captivated audiences for over seven decades with her expansive repertoire spanning film songs, classical music, and international collaborations.
Her contribution to Indian cinema and music remains unparalleled, with thousands of songs recorded across multiple languages. Known for her ability to adapt to changing musical trends, Bhosle’s voice became synonymous with generations of film music, earning her numerous awards and a lasting legacy in the cultural fabric of the country.
The final rites of the legendary singer are scheduled to take place at Shivaji Park in Dadar at 4 pm on Monday, with full state honours. The ceremony is expected to be attended by family members, dignitaries, and admirers from across the nation, marking the end of an era in Indian music.
