Asha Bhosle’s Final Film Song To Be Released On Her Birth Anniversary As Special Tribute

Asha Bhosle’s final film song releases.

Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle’s final recorded song for a feature film will be released on September 8, coinciding with her birth anniversary, the makers of the upcoming drama-comedy Om Ka Hari announced on Thursday. The song, titled Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan, was recorded in late 2023 and is set to become a significant part of the film’s musical offering. The song was recorded when Bhosle was in her 90s and will feature in filmmaker Harish Vyas’ father-son drama. The film stars Anshuman Jha, Raghubir Yadav, Soni Razdan and Ayesha Kapur.

The makers said the decision to release the track on Bhosle’s birth anniversary is intended to honour her remarkable contribution to Indian music and cinema. Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan has been described as a song celebrating life, love and the importance of expressing emotions. Its central theme reflects on the joy of living and the need to communicate feelings, giving the track added significance as one of Bhosle’s final recorded contributions to a feature film.

Bhosle was one of the most influential playback singers in the history of Indian cinema, with a career spanning more than seven decades. She recorded over 12,000 songs across multiple Indian languages and became known for her remarkable versatility, distinctive voice and ability to adapt to a wide range of musical styles. Among her best-known Hindi film songs are Dum Maro Dum, Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko and Yeh Mera Dil. Her work across generations of composers, actors and filmmakers established her as a defining voice of Bollywood music and earned her a lasting place in Indian popular culture.

Bhosle passed away in April this year at the age of 92. Her death marked the end of an extraordinary chapter in Indian playback singing, after a career in which she remained active across several generations. Her extensive body of work continues to be celebrated by listeners and musicians, while her recordings remain an important part of India's cinematic and musical heritage. The release of her final feature film song is therefore expected to carry considerable emotional significance for her admirers.

By choosing her birth anniversary for the song’s release, the makers of Om Ka Hari aim to celebrate her life and legacy rather than simply mark the end of her recording career. With Ae Meri Zindagi, Tu Chupi Hai Kahan, Bhosle’s voice will make another appearance on the big screen, nearly two years after the recording session. The song’s themes of life, love and emotional expression, combined with its release on her birth anniversary, are expected to make it a tribute to one of Indian cinema’s most enduring musical icons.
