Asha Bhosle Cremation at 4 PM Today; Public Tribute at Lower Parel Home at 11 AM

Asha Bhosle, 92, will be cremated at Shivaji Park today following multiple organ failure.

Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away at the age of 92, will be cremated in Mumbai on Monday afternoon, marking the final farewell to one of India’s most iconic musical voices. The singer died on April 12 at Breach Candy Hospital following multiple organ failure, after being admitted for treatment related to a chest infection and severe exhaustion. Her death has triggered an outpouring of grief across the country.

According to family sources, Bhosle’s mortal remains were brought to her residence in Lower Parel on Sunday evening. Fans, well-wishers, and members of the film industry are expected to gather from 11 am onwards to pay their last respects. The body will be kept at her residence until 3 pm, after which it will be taken for cremation at Shivaji Park at around 4 pm.

The singer had reportedly been rushed to the hospital on the night of April 11, where she was undergoing treatment. Despite medical efforts, her condition deteriorated, ultimately leading to her demise. Known for her extraordinary versatility and longevity, Bhosle lent her voice to countless timeless songs across decades, including classics such as “Aaiye Meherbaan", “Kajra Mohabbat Wala", and “Le Gayi Le Gayi", cementing her legacy in Indian cinema.

Prominent figures including Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Shreya Ghoshal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Anu Malik shared heartfelt tributes, remembering her immense contribution to music and her influence on generations of artists.

Several industry personalities have already visited her residence to pay homage. Music composer A. R. Rahman was seen arriving early Monday morning, while actors like Vidya Balan and Urmila Matondkar also paid their respects on Sunday. Actor Milind Soman, who had collaborated with her in the 1990s, was visibly emotional while recalling his memories with the singer.

Asha Bhosle’s death marks the end of an era in Indian music, as she leaves behind a legacy spanning thousands of songs in multiple languages.
