Arijit Singh Casts Vote At Murshidabad Booth During West Bengal Assembly Elections

Singer Arijit Singh cast his vote on Thursday, April 23, during the ongoing West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, joining thousands of citizens participating in the democratic process. The voting is being held across all 294 Assembly constituencies in the state, marking a crucial political contest.

The singer was seen arriving at a polling booth in Jiaganj, located in Murshidabad district, accompanied by his wife, Koel Roy. The couple walked hand-in-hand as they approached the booth, drawing attention from locals and media present at the venue. Videos circulating online showed Singh in a relaxed and cheerful mood as he greeted journalists and acknowledged police personnel before entering to cast his vote.

Earlier in the day, Singh’s father, Surinder Singh, also exercised his right to vote at a polling station in Murshidabad. Speaking to ANI after voting, he expressed satisfaction with the arrangements and described the process as smooth and peaceful. “Everything is good. May everything go well. There is no problem at all. Voting is going on smoothly. I have cast my vote,” he said.

The Election Commission of India has reported that polling is being conducted in two phases, covering 152 and 142 constituencies respectively. A total of 1,478 candidates are contesting in this election cycle, making it a significant and closely watched political event in the state.

The results of the elections are scheduled to be announced on May 4. Incumbent Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is seeking a fourth consecutive term in office, while the Bharatiya Janata Party aims to improve upon its previous tally of 77 seats and position itself to form the government. The presence of public figures like Arijit Singh at polling stations has drawn attention to voter participation, highlighting the importance of civic engagement in one of India’s most politically significant state elections.
