Arijit Singh Cancels Chennai Concert After Pahalgam Attack, Promises Full Refunds to Fans

The organisers confirmed that all ticket holders would receive full refunds, which will be automatically processed to the original mode of payment.

In a mark of solidarity with the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, celebrated singer Arijit Singh has cancelled his upcoming Chennai concert. The event, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 27, was called off following the tragic incident that shook the nation earlier this week.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Arijit re-shared an announcement by the event organisers, District Updates. The note read, “In light of the recent and tragic events, the organisers, along with the artist, have collectively made the decision to cancel the upcoming show scheduled to happen in Chennai this Sunday.” Arijit added folded hands emojis to the post, a quiet gesture of respect and grief.

The organisers confirmed that all ticket holders would receive full refunds, which will be automatically processed to the original mode of payment.

The decision comes in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where armed militants opened fire on tourists in the Baisaran meadow. The massacre claimed the lives of 26 people — 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen — and left many others injured. It is being called one of the deadliest such attacks in the region in recent years.

Several events in the entertainment industry have since been cancelled or postponed. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander also announced a delay in ticket sales for the Bengaluru leg of his Hukum World Tour, citing the need for silence and solidarity in the wake of the tragedy.

The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from across the country. Celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, and Sara Ali Khan have expressed grief and support for the victims and their families.
