Anupam Kher Says He and Naseeruddin Shah Have Moved On
Anupam Kher says he and Naseeruddin Shah resolved their old feud.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher has said that he and fellow actor Naseeruddin Shah have moved on from their public disagreement over a six-year-old remark that recently resurfaced on social media. In a video shared on Instagram, Kher addressed renewed trolling over Shah's earlier comments, stating that attempts to revive the controversy had failed because both actors had already reconciled. He added that the two had hugged each other and put the issue behind them.
In the video, Kher alleged that some people had attempted to target him after disagreeing with his recent views. According to the actor, when critics failed to find anything new to attack him over, they circulated an old video in which Naseeruddin Shah had referred to him as a "clown." Kher said he viewed the campaign against him with amusement and maintained that his career and achievements were built through hard work and personal values rather than public approval.
Responding to those criticising him online, Kher asserted that he would continue to stand by what he believes is the truth. He said he was not intimidated by attempts to tarnish his reputation and questioned why some individuals appeared threatened by his success. Stressing that he had earned his position through perseverance, the actor said he would remain focused on his work despite criticism on social media.

The exchange dates back six years, when Naseeruddin Shah described Kher as a "clown" during an interview and criticised what he characterised as Kher's outspoken public positions. At the time, Shah also alleged that Kher had a sycophantic nature. Kher responded publicly through a video message, saying that Shah had often criticised respected personalities from the film and sports industries and that he therefore did not take the comments personally.
In his earlier response, Kher had also made sharp remarks about Shah, referring to what he claimed was the latter's lifelong frustration despite professional success. He further commented on Shah's past admission regarding substance use, suggesting it affected his judgement. The exchange drew considerable attention at the time and sparked widespread debate among members of the film fraternity and social media users.
Despite their previous differences, Kher has now indicated that the matter has been resolved between the two actors. On the professional front, Anupam Kher was most recently seen in Metro... In Dino, while Naseeruddin Shah has received appreciation for his performance in Imtiaz Ali's Main Vaapas Aaunga. Kher's latest remarks suggest that, from his perspective, the long-running public disagreement has come to an end, even as old clips continue to circulate online.
