Amitabh Bachchan’s Nostalgic ‘Sholay’ Ticket Reveal

Amitabh’s Rs 20 Sholay Ticket Stuns Fans

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan took fans on a nostalgic journey by sharing a preserved ticket from his 1975 blockbuster Sholay on his blog on July 28, 2025. Priced at just Rs 20, the ticket, posted alongside personal photos, reflects an era when cinema was affordable. Bachchan marveled at the contrast, noting, “I am told that is the price of an aerated drink in theatre halls nowadays,” expressing awe at inflation’s impact.

Sholay, directed by Ramesh Sippy, became India’s highest-grossing film of 1975 and remains a cultural milestone as it nears its 50th anniversary on August 15, 2025. Starring Amitabh as Jai and Dharmendra as Veeru, the action-packed saga follows two ex-convicts hired to capture a notorious dacoit, Gabbar, played by Amjad Khan. Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar, and Jaya Bachchan rounded out the iconic cast, cementing the film’s legacy in Bollywood history.

Bachchan’s post, filled with “affection and love,” resonated with fans, sparking discussions on social media about Sholay’s enduring appeal and the simplicity of past cinema experiences.
