Amitabh Bachchan Touches Feet of 86-Year-Old Fan Who Came From Pune to Meet Him
Amitabh Bachchan meets 86-year-old Pune fan on KBC set, touching her feet and seeking blessings.
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was deeply moved on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 17 when an 86-year-old woman travelled all the way from Pune solely to meet him, prompting the 83-year-old actor to touch her feet in reverence. Sharing the heartwarming encounter on his personal Tumblr blog on December 6, 2025, Bachchan posted photographs of the elderly fan greeting him with folded hands near the iconic hot seat. Describing her as a “venerable mother goddess”, he revealed she has faithfully watched every episode of KBC since its inaugural season in 2000—spanning a remarkable 25 years.
The woman, whose identity Big B kept private out of respect, endured the journey from Pune to Mumbai’s Film City studios and patiently sat through an entire episode’s filming just for a few moments with her idol. In his characteristic bilingual style, Bachchan wrote: “ये वृद्ध देवी माँ... ८६ वर्ष की उम्र है, और पुणे से केवल मिलने आई हैं। मैं उन्हें चरण स्पर्श करता हूँ, और आदर स्नेह सहित प्रणाम करता हूँ।” Translating for his global readership, he added: “86 years old and came all the way from Pune just to meet me… such grace and charm… indebted to have the blessings of such.”
Bachchan, visibly overwhelmed by the gesture, emphasised how the encounter left him humbled. He noted that even the day’s contestant—a regular reader of his blog—told him she was inspired to start writing because of his daily posts, leaving the veteran actor “embarrassed” yet grateful. “Now I shall have to be guarded in what I say,” he joked, while praising the overwhelming love and encouragement from viewers.

The episode also turned into an unexpected learning session for the host himself, with contestants educating him on everything from advanced yoga techniques to software programming and management principles. “An entire learning experience… floored,” Bachchan admitted, urging fans to “keep coming and educating me.” He signed off by expressing immense gratitude and pledging to “learn more, read more, write more.”
Now in its seventeenth season on Sony Entertainment Television, Kaun Banega Crorepati continues to be one of India’s most-watched shows, largely due to Bachchan’s enduring charisma and genuine connection with contestants and audiences alike. The actor, who returned to host despite health concerns earlier this year, has often described the show as more than a game—calling it a platform that brings India’s diverse stories into millions of homes.
Moments like the Pune woman’s visit underscore why, at 83, Amitabh Bachchan remains one of the country’s most beloved figures: a superstar who still bows in respect to the unwavering devotion of fans who have grown old watching him light up their television screens for over two decades.
