Amitabh Bachchan Buys Three Alibaug Plots Worth ₹6.6 Crore in Luxury Project

Amitabh Bachchan invests ₹6.6 crore in three luxury plots at the HOABL Alibaug project.

Iconic Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has expanded his real estate portfolio with the acquisition of three premium villa plots in Alibaug, Maharashtra, collectively valued at approximately Rs 6.6 crore, according to real estate analytics firm CRE Matrix. The purchases, made from developer HOABL Landbuild Pvt. Ltd., underscore the 82-year-old superstar's affinity for coastal retreats, positioning Alibaug as his latest getaway haven. The deals involve plots 96, 97, and 98 in the upscale House of Abhinandan Lodha (HOABL) Alibaug Phase 2 project in Raigad district, a hotspot for high-net-worth individuals seeking serene second homes amid Mumbai's hustle.

The largest plot, number 96, spans 4,047 square feet and carries an agreement value of Rs 2.78 crore, offering ample space for a bespoke luxury villa. Adjacent plot 97 measures 2,776 square feet at Rs 1.92 crore, while plot 98 covers 2,734 square feet for Rs 1.88 crore. These contiguous parcels, totalling over 9,500 square feet, provide Bachchan with a cohesive development opportunity in a gated enclave designed for exclusivity. Transaction records accessed by CRE Matrix confirm HOABL Landbuild as the seller, though specific agreement dates remain undisclosed, aligning with recent filings under Maharashtra's real estate regulations.

HOABL Alibaug, spearheaded by the House of Abhinandan Lodha group, redefines coastal luxury with its Phase 2 expansion, blending villa plots and ready residences in sub-projects like Sol De Alibaug and Chateau de Alibaug. Perched along the Konkan coastline, just 90 minutes from Mumbai by ferry or hovercraft, the development promises world-class amenities, including private beaches, infinity pools, and landscaped greens, catering to urban elites craving weekend escapes. Alibaug's appeal has surged post-pandemic, with property prices doubling in the last five years due to improved connectivity via the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport and a boom in eco-luxury demand.

Bachchan, a veteran of over five decades in Hindi cinema with blockbusters like Sholay and Deewar, has long diversified into real estate, owning iconic Mumbai assets such as the plush Jalsa bungalow and commercial spaces in prime locales. This Alibaug venture fits his pattern of investing in lifestyle-orientated properties, following peers like Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, who have similarly staked claims in the beachside enclave.

As celebrity endorsements fuel Alibaug's transformation from fishing village to millionaire's row—boasting a 30% year-on-year appreciation—Bachchan's move signals sustained investor confidence. With plot prices starting at Rs 50,000 per square foot in HOABL, the deals highlight the premium on privacy and proximity, potentially inspiring custom builds that could become future Bollywood backdrops.
