Amitabh Bachchan Apologises For X Post Numbering Error, Thanks Fan For Spotting It
Amitabh Bachchan’s X numbering error amuses fans
Amitabh Bachchan’s latest activity on X, formerly Twitter, became a source of amusement for his followers after the veteran actor admitted to making a “huge error” while numbering his posts. Bachchan is well known for assigning serial numbers to his X posts, a habit that his followers have come to recognise over the years. However, after correctly numbering one post as T 5817, he accidentally began the next sequence with T 5718 and continued using the incorrect numbers in subsequent posts. The mistake was eventually spotted by a follower, prompting Bachchan to publicly acknowledge and correct it.
Bachchan addressed the error in a subsequent post after the fan pointed out the discrepancy. He explained that the sequence following T 5817 should have continued as T 5818, T 5819 and T 5820. Describing the mistake as a “huge error”, the actor apologised to his followers for the incorrect numbering. He also thanked the fan who brought the issue to his attention, identifying the follower as Ef Sunil. The actor’s straightforward correction quickly drew attention online, particularly because his numbered posts have become a familiar part of his social media routine.
In his correction, Bachchan clarified the sequence and expressed his gratitude to the follower who had noticed the mistake. His use of “Ef” in addressing the fan was also consistent with his long-standing way of referring to his followers as his “extended family”. Bachchan frequently uses the term when interacting with fans on social media, reflecting the close and informal relationship he has cultivated with his online audience. His regular posts cover a wide range of subjects, including his work, personal reflections, observations and interactions with fans, while the serial numbering has become a signature feature of his X presence.

What might otherwise have remained a minor social media correction soon turned into a humorous exchange among Bachchan’s followers. Memes, GIFs and jokes began appearing in response to the actor’s apology, with users making light of the numerical mix-up. Some reactions referred to a “number leak”, while other jokes and references involving protests added to the playful nature of the discussion. The comments demonstrated how quickly even a small mistake by a major celebrity can become an online talking point, particularly when the celebrity openly acknowledges the error themselves.
Bachchan’s numbering system has been a consistent feature of his X account and is closely followed by some of his long-time fans. Because the actor posts frequently and maintains the sequence across his updates, followers are accustomed to seeing the numbers progress from one post to the next. That familiarity likely made the discrepancy easier to spot. Instead of allowing the incorrect sequence to continue, Bachchan responded to the observation and corrected the record, turning what could have been an unnoticed error into an entertaining interaction with his audience.
The incident also offered another example of Bachchan’s enduring engagement with social media despite being one of the most established figures in Indian cinema. At 83, the actor remains active online and regularly communicates directly with his followers. His willingness to admit a simple mistake and thank the person who identified it added a light-hearted dimension to the episode. For fans, the numbering error provided an opportunity for humour, with memes and GIFs overtaking the comments section. What began as an accidental jump from T 5817 to T 5718 ultimately became a playful social media moment involving one of Bollywood’s most recognisable stars.
