Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan reunite for an untitled comedy releasing in December.
Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan are set to reunite for an untitled comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee, with the makers officially announcing a theatrical release date of December 4, 2026. The upcoming film is being positioned as a family entertainer and marks another collaboration between Kumar and Bazmee, known for delivering commercially successful comedy films in Hindi cinema.
According to an official press release, the project is being produced by Shirish Reddy and Kuldeep Rathore in association with Cape of Good Films and Sri Venkateswara Creations. The ensemble cast also includes Raashii Khanna, Vijay Raaz, and Sudesh Lehri. Production on the film is progressing steadily, with the makers recently completing a major shooting schedule in Kerala.
Akshay Kumar had earlier shared updates from the Kerala shoot on social media, posting a photograph featuring Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna alongside members of the film’s team. In his caption, Kumar praised director Anees Bazmee and expressed appreciation for the cast and crew, describing the filming experience as special. The actor also highlighted the scenic Kerala backdrop and the collaborative atmosphere on set, further building anticipation among fans awaiting the comedy entertainer.

The film marks a notable reunion between Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, who previously worked together in several successful projects including Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Heyy Babyy, and Mission Mangal. Their pairing has often been appreciated by audiences for balancing comedy, drama, and emotional storytelling. Industry observers believe the new project could benefit from nostalgia associated with their earlier collaborations while also appealing to family audiences seeking mainstream entertainers.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar continues to maintain a packed release schedule across genres. His recent release Bhooth Bangla arrived in theatres in April, while his upcoming projects include Haiwaan alongside Saif Ali Khan. Kumar has remained one of Bollywood’s busiest stars, frequently alternating between action, comedy, drama, and socially themed films over the past few years.
Vidya Balan, on the other hand, was recently seen in Raja Shivaji directed by Riteish Deshmukh, which released on May 1. With the announcement of the new comedy project, both actors are expected to once again share screen space in a genre that has historically worked well for them. Trade analysts believe the December 2026 release window could position the film as a major year-end commercial entertainer, especially given Anees Bazmee’s strong track record in the comedy genre.
