Akshay Kumar Advises Rajpal Yadav: “Stay an Actor, Don’t Produce Films”
Akshay Kumar advises Rajpal Yadav to avoid film production risks.
Bollywood Actor Akshay Kumar has spoken out on Rajpal Yadav’s ongoing Rs 9-crore cheque-bounce case, advising the actor against producing films and emphasizing the importance of focusing on acting. The comments came during a promotional event for his upcoming film, Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan.
Reflecting on a conversation with the late veteran actor Asrani, Akshay recalled, “He told me, ‘Never produce a film; it was the biggest mistake of my life when I put in my own money.’” Drawing parallels, Akshay said he advised Rajpal in a similar vein: “We are actors, and producers know how to produce a film, so you should not try to be a producer when you don’t know the trick. If you are an actor, you should stay an actor.”
Akshay expressed his admiration for Rajpal's acting skills, adding, “I hope Rajpal comes out of this situation completely. What an actor he is! When people give 100 percent, he delivers 120-140 percent. It is so much fun working with him. Our banter comes so naturally that sometimes the line is not even written in the script.” Priyadarshan also praised Rajpal's comic timing, describing the actor’s interactions with Akshay in Bhooth Bangla as reminiscent of the classic Tom and Jerry dynamic.
The Rs 9-crore case has seen developments in recent months. Rajpal Yadav was released from Tihar Jail on 17 February after depositing Rs 1.5 crore. He had surrendered on 5 February following the Delhi High Court’s rejection of his plea for additional repayment time, though his sentence was later suspended until 18 March. During hearings, the High Court noted that Rajpal had deposited a substantial portion of the owed amount, preventing his return to jail.
Outside the legal proceedings, Rajpal has shared insights on his life and career, recalling his humble beginnings as a tailor and expressing pride in serving the Indian Army through his family business. He also credited his guru for shaping his philosophy, emphasizing respect for time and acceptance of life’s circumstances.

Produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R. Kapoor, and presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films, the comedy promises a mix of physical humor, witty dialogues, and supernatural elements.
